Meet the Teacher: Mrs. Amanda Mashue

We want to introduce to you another member of our SCS community, Mrs. Amanda Mashue, high school teacher. Read below to learn more about Mrs. Mashue and why he loves teaching at SCS.
What do you teach at SCS? What grades/school divisions?
I currently teach high school science, including CP/Honors/AP Physics and Earth Science. I have mostly 11th and 12th grade but some 10th. I did teach 8th grade science too!
What brought you to SCS?
We initially toured SCS as an option for our son. We wanted a school focused on teaching through a biblical worldview. We fell in love.
How long have you been a teacher at Southside Christian School?
This is my 6th year.
How do you see Christ working in the lives of your students?
I taught a large portion of my juniors and seniors back in 8th grade. I see Christ working in the hearts of students slowly and steadily. Christ has transformed these young men and women from immature thinking to mature thinking. They consider His will and His work as they are making decisions for the future.
Where did you attend college/what degree?
I received my Masters in Electrical Engineering at Georgia Tech and BSEE at the University of South Alabama.
Where did you grow up/where are you from?
I grew up in Mobile, Alabama.
What do you love about teaching at SCS?
I love my students!
What is the one thing you want your students to take away from your class?
As we study the world around us, we should be drawn to worship our Creator.
What do you like to do for fun?
Our family loves to play board games – the ones that take 4-8 hours to complete.
If you were an ice cream flavor, what would you be and why?
I would be pineapple flavored because my mom is Hawaiian, and she puts pineapple on everything.
