Boys win State 1A golf title

The time has come, for several of our varsity team it has been a long hard road. Since 7th grade the guys had a goal and that was to win a state championship. Monday May tenth the boys traveled to the Ponderosa golf club in Batesburg-Leesville to do just that. It wasn't just another tournament this was the one they had been working towards for years. As 10 am drew closer and closer I could tell the boys were a little nervous, so we huddled up said a prayer and headed to the number one tee box.  Ten am hit and we were off, Lineup as follows, Tillman Alverson, Will Robinson, Trey Cauthen, Garrett White, Preston White. I had told the guys to keep the big numbers off the scorecard and we would be ok, and we did that for the better part of the day. When we had finished we had a total score of 313, now it was time to wait for the other teams to come in. Finally all the scores were in and I am so proud to say that the guys can say they are the 1A state golf Champions.  Along with this honor everyone of our guys made the all tournament team along with Trey Cauthen winning the our all tournament Medalist.  I would like to say how blessed I am to be a part of this team, and would like to Thank a few people, First I would like to thank the Lord for giving me the opportunity to work with this group of young men and their families. Sam Barfell, Dr. Bob Stouffer,
Dr. Luke Bowers, Mike Johnson, the Athletic office, the entire front office staff, and all the teachers, Thank you for making it possible for the dreams of these young men to come true. Thank you to Mr. Evans day and his staff at Carolina Springs.  To the parents, and Grand parents, Thank you for supporting the boys golf team and me. For five of the seniors this year will end a chapter of their life, But a new one will begin soon. As a coach I always want to win, and sometimes we think winning is only coming in First place, which it is, but to me it is also how one handles themselves in good times and not so good times, how our attitude is, and how we act towards others.  So for the whole JV and Varsity golf teams,  coach would like to say, Seniors who are Graduating, you have had a Quality Biblical Education, Parents who Love you,  now it's your time to in golf terms Send it.   I hope I have taught you to keep the Lord First and that you can Do anything you put your mind to along with hard work.  For the guys who will be back next year,  lets keep working on our golf game, keep those grades up, and I want all of you to know that I am so proud of each one you and Thank you for letting me be a part of this great program, Coach Beddingfield
