Southside Christian School is more than just a place where students receive an excellent Christian education – it’s a place where they find community. Our faculty and staff are a big part of what makes our school feel like a family.
We’re excited to introduce to you another member of our SCS community, Mrs. Claire Pigott. Read below to learn more about Mrs. Pigott and why she loves teaching at SCS.
What do you teach at SCS? What grades/school divisions?
It is a joy to teach Kindergarten at SCS.
What brought you to SCS?
Our search for a well-rounded, loving Christian school for our own children to attend brought my husband and me to SCS. We fell in love with it and I knew that Southside Christian school was where I felt the Lord calling me to teach!
How long have you been a teacher at Southside Christian School?
I am now in my third year serving at SCS.
How do you see Christ working in the lives of your students?
The childlike faith of my sweet students is truly inspiring to me! I have so enjoyed watching their growth in Jesus as they walk with Him. To see the little seeds planted in their hearts begin to grow and flourish is a beautiful thing. It is such a blessing to be able to share the love of Jesus with my precious children each day.
Where did you attend college/what degree?
I attended University in South Africa and graduated with a Bachelor of Education degree, specializing in early childhood development.
Where did you grow up/where are you from?
I grew up on the East Coast in South Africa and called it home for most of my life. I have been living in the United States of America for the past 5 years.
What do you love about teaching at SCS?
There are so many things that I love about teaching at SCS! In my classroom, we refer to our class as a “Class Family” and I very much feel that way about our school as a whole. We are a community of staff and students who uplift, encourage, and support one another, making it a joy to come to work each day. As a mom, I am so grateful to know that my children are not only getting an excellent education, but also being loved and taught real life application of biblical principles every single day.
What is the one thing you want your students to take away from your class?
I pray that each and every student leaves my class knowing how loved they are and that they are valuable and precious in the eyes of God.
What do you like to do for fun?
I love spending time with my family, being out in the sunshine, and crafting. My happy place is definitely the beach! For fun, I love doing anything creative and shopping!
If you were an ice cream flavor, what would you be and why?
If I were an ice cream flavor I would definitely be salted caramel because it’s my favorite!
