A Weekly Parent Communication from Southside Christian School
ALL SCHOOL NEWS
CAMPUS MASTER PLAN
For the past two years Southside Christian School has been working in partnership with the architectural firm LS3P, to develop a new Campus Master Plan that outlines our desire to grow into the future. God has been faithful to provide for SCS over our 51 year history. With our current enrollment of 1050 students, we recognize that we are at approximately 90-95% capacity with our current facilities. Although we are not announcing a building program or a capital campaign yet, we are casting vision for how to excel still further as the Lord continues to bless our enrollment.
You might ask, “What is a campus master plan?” The Campus Master Plan is a 30,000 foot conceptual view of the best way to utilize our 40-acre campus. It does not include detailed planning specifics of our future new spaces. Instead, it is an overview, or a designation of real estate on our 40-acres for future and potential use. We are excited to share our future vision with you.
We have placed a copy of this Campus Master Plan in the display case in the Sabre Commons and have created a web-page as well
. We look forward to what God has in the future for Southside Christian School as we pursue our mission to partner with Christian parents to provide an excellent education consistent with biblical truth!
With Eternity in Mind,
Dr. Sam Barfell

On December 21 the classes will interact with a school in Missouri through Google Hangout. The students will be able to share their gingerbread projects with one another. Some of the venues the SCS students have chosen to build include Southside Christian School, The Bon Secour Wellness Arena, Falls Park, and The Westin Poinsett.
UPPER SCHOOL NEWS
First semester exams take place next week. An important item to note is that the schedule of testing will now be in order of class periods instead of individual core subjects; therefore, students do not need to be on campus for class periods not requiring an exam. Monitored study halls for Middle School and High School will be available for students on-campus who are not in an exam. Study hall locations are posted on the grade bulletin boards upstairs.
