SERVICE DAY & HALF DAY DISMISSAL TIME
Correction from last week’s newsletter: On Friday, April 5, dismissal time for grades 6-12 will be 12:45 p.m. Grades 9-12 will be participating in a service day.
On April 12, Early Education will dismiss at 11:30 a.m., Lower School will dismiss at 12 p.m., and Upper School will dismiss at 12:30 p.m.
While we believe God’s work in the lives of our students is evident at Southside Christian School, we know there is always room for improvement. To better partner with you and equip students for their future, we need your input. Would you take a few minutes to take a survey? Grandparents’ Day for Lower School and Early Education students (Pre-K 2 through Kindergarten) will be Friday, April 12. Grandparents of Lower School students will begin the day by attending the Lower School Easter Concert, “What Mercy Did for Me,” in the Fine Arts Center at 9 a.m. After the concert, Lower School grandparents may visit the classrooms of their grandchildren, meet the teachers, and participate in classroom activities. Early Education grandparents who do not have a grandchild in Lower School will begin the day at 10:15 a.m. Early Education will dismiss at 11:30 a.m., and Lower School will dismiss at noon. FALL DRAMA PRODUCTION AUDITIONS
SCS is proud to present Disney’s Tony Award winning musical, Newsies, as the fall production. Singing and acting auditions will be held Thursday, April 25 for middle school and Friday, April 26 for high school and Lower School from 3:30 to 5:45 p.m. in room 1330. Students will be contacted via email if chosen to participate in the dance auditions. Dance auditions will be held Monday, April 29 from 3:30 to 5:45 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center. Callbacks will be Tuesday, April 30 in room 1330. Lower and Upper School students are encouraged to attend auditions. Each participant needs to come prepared to sing a one minute Broadway-style audition tune, and a one minute monologue.
WINSHAPE CAMP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Volunteers are needed to help with WinShape Camps Greenville at SCS from July 1-5 from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There are also opportunities to serve half days, all day, or specific days of the week. We hope to have over 500 campers in attendance. To serve these campers effectively, we need several volunteers such as high school students (completed 9th-12th grade as of June 2019), college students, parents, grandparents, teachers, and nurses. EARLY EDUCATION NEWS
Lower School Baseball Night is tonight at 4 p.m. Lower School students can warm up with the varsity baseball players from 4-5 p.m. Pre-game activities begin at 5:45 p.m. For more details, click here. We encourage all Lower School students toSummerQuest partners with parents in providing a safe, nurturing, and fun-filled learning environment for the summer. Registration is open to currently enrolled (2018-2019) Early Learners through First Grade. Campers remain in their current age-appropriate groupings. Students enrolling for the 2019-2020 school year, Toddlers (DOB after October 1, 2017) through Kindergarten, may attend as space is available. The deadline to register is April 27. LOWER SCHOOL NEWS
Lower School will participate in a Family lunch on Monday, April 8. Students should wear their Family t-shirts.
IMAGINE UPSTATE STEAM FESTIVAL
SCS will participate in the 5th annual iMAGINE Upstate STEAM Festival on April 6 in downtown Greenville. There will be interactive exhibits and live stage shows from more than 70 STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) organizations. Click here for more information.

SPRING BENEVOLENCE PROJECT
The Spring Benevolence Project raised over $6,000 to support Freedom International Ministries and Freedom Christian School, our sister school in the Dominican Republic.
