ALL SCHOOL NEWS
THE FUND FOR SCS
A generous Southside Christian School supporter has offered a $100,000 matching gift to enable us to meet our Annual Fund Goal for this year! Would you help us match this gift with a generous contribution to our Annual Fund between now and May 31st? By contributing to the annual fund, your gift will be doubled by this matching gift.
When friends and parents at Southside Christian School support what we are doing beyond tuition, those funds go to the annual fund – what we call The Fund for SCS. This fund allows us to make improvements at SCS each year in the areas of Professional Development and Instructional Tools, Security, Fine Arts, Athletics, Tuition Assistance, and other areas that are most needed.
Thank you to those who have already partnered with us by supporting The Fund for SCS this year! If you would like to participate, click here. Every gift helps us reach our goal, and anyone who loves SCS can participate. We can’t wait to see all that we can accomplish through the annual fund this year. Keep an eye out for improvements this summer.
FREEDOM INTERNATIONAL MINISTRIES
We are blessed to have Dr. Jason and Pam Hilgeman, founders of Freedom International Ministries and Freedom Christian School, our sister school in the Dominican Republic, on campus today to provide an update on what is happening in the ministry there. Our sister school is continuing to have a deep impact on the lives of the students, and currently has 390 students enrolled for next year.
Thank you to everyone who donated school supplies to the ministry and participated in the spring 2018 and 2019 benevolence projects designated for Freedom Christian School. We have 25 students and 3 faculty members led by Pastor Colin Urbanick going to serve with Freedom International Ministries this June. We are grateful to be partners in the work God is doing in our sister school.
FALL DRAMA PRODUCTION AUDITIONS
SCS is proud to present Disney’s Tony Award-winning musical, Newsies, as the fall production. Singing and acting auditions will be held today for middle school and tomorrow for high school and Lower School from 3:30 to 5:45 p.m. in room 1330. Students will be contacted via email if chosen to participate in the dance auditions. Dance auditions will be held Monday, April 29 from 3:30 to 5:45 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center. Callbacks will be Tuesday, April 30 in room 1330. Lower and Upper School students are encouraged to attend auditions. Each participant needs to come prepared to sing a one-minute Broadway-style audition tune, and a one minute monologue.
LOWER SCHOOL NEWS
LOWER SCHOOL DRAMA PRODUCTION
Join us the first production of the Sabre Players, the new Lower School drama club, tomorrow, April 26 at 8:30 a.m. in the Fine Arts Center. The players have been working since October to share the story of Jonah, focusing on the lesson of God’s power matched against the human will. The production will feature Jonah’s story, and how He was used for the Kingdom of God.
UPPER SCHOOL NEWS
SAT PRACTICE TEST
Join us this Saturday, April 27 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for a practice test of the SAT. This is a great opportunity to practice taking the SAT without the pressure of an official score. You will be able to access your results at the conclusion of the session. To register, click here.

A MESSAGE FROM DR. STOUFFER
On Thursday, April 11, Upper School celebrated Easter during chapel. If you would like to read a summary of the high school chapel activities, “Recommissioned to Preach the Gospel,” please visit Dr. Stouffer’s blog by clicking here.
LOWER SCHOOL BIBLE QUIZ
The final Lower School Bible Quiz for the year was on Tuesday, April 23. It was also the final Bible Quiz led by first grade teacher Jen Atkins. Miss Atkins has worked with the 2nd through 5th grade students for the past five years to memorize Scripture and compete in teams. She will be greatly missed as she moves back home to Virginia to be near family. We are very thankful for Miss Atkins’ service in leading our students to hide God’s Word in their hearts!
