Dee Kauffman teaches fourth grade at Southside Christian School. Prior to coming to SCS, she taught fourth grade for thirteen years in Christian schools, the last ten at Ben Lippen School. She taught freshman English at Canadian Nazarene College for three years, spent five years teaching third and fourth grades in the public school system of Kansas City, MO, and two years as a reading consultant in CT.
Mrs. Kauffman graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in elementary education from Southern Nazarene University. She holds an M.A. in reading education from the University of Missouri, and she was a Phi Delta Lambda honor society member. She holds lifetime certifications in elementary education and as a reading specialist from both the state of Missouri and the Association of Christian Schools International.
Mrs. Kauffman and her husband, Don, have been married for over thirty years and have three grown sons, a daughter-in-law, and a grandson due December 5. Mrs. Kauffman enjoys family, church, reading the newspaper, watching mysteries, and searching for teaching ideas. She likes to eat at Chili’s and Applebee’s and to shop at Kohl's and Belk’s.
Mrs. Kauffman's favorite Scripture passage is Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
