The mission of Southside Christian School is to serve as partners with Christian parents in providing an excellent education consistent with biblical truth.
Partnering with Christian parents to serve our community as a leader in Christian education, resulting in transformed lives equipped to reflect and extend the kingdom of God.
Expanded Vision
Southside Christian School is committed to partner with Christian parents to serve our community by providing an affordable and accessible Christ-centered education. By attracting and retaining a credentialed core of spiritually vibrant master educators, SCS will continue to be a recognized leader in Christian education, offering model academic, athletic, and fine art programs for our students. We desire to steward the resources God has entrusted to our care through fiscal prudence by cultivating a culture of philanthropic support for the school. SCS is passionate to nurture growth in our students, participate in their spiritual transformation, and equip them to reflect and extend God’s kingdom. Remaining true to our spiritual heritage, we are committed to cultivating a biblical worldview within our students, enabling them to live effective and productive lives in service to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Since 1967, Southside Christian School has existed to glorify God through its mission "to serve as partners with Christian parents in providing an excellent education consistent with biblical truth."
The school has steadfastly stood by its commitment to educate young people with a biblical worldview. From its humble beginning of 49 students in classes from kindergarten through third grade, SCS has emerged today as one of the Southeast's leading Christian schools, with a wide range of educational programs for approximately 1,100 students ranging from pre-school through grade twelve.
Academic excellence is a high priority at Southside Christian School and is an integral component of our mission statement. On the most recent Stanford 10 Achievement Test, SCS students exceeded the national average at every grade and in every subject area. At the high school level, SCS offers honors and AP classes in every major subject area.
Southside Christian School students also enjoy a broad range of opportunity in the arts. The annual SCS school play attains a level of professionalism rarely seen at the high school level and draws a large audience from the community. More than 10 musical groups, including the high school choir and band, are available to SCS students and frequently win awards in competition, and numerous art students have been recognized in competition. Art and music are part of the core curriculum through grade 6. Art, drama, and music are offered as electives beginning at grade 7, with one credit in fine arts required for high school graduation.
When compared with all athletics programs in schools of all sizes, the athletic department at SCS was named 12th in the state by The State newspaper. Southside Christian School has 19 varsity teams. Through the years, SCS has won several state championships, most recently Girls' Volleyball.
At Southside Christian School, our academic, artistic, and athletic excellence is not in addition to being biblically focused: we are academically, artistically, and athletically excellent because we are biblically focused. Bible is a core subject area in every grade, and every student attends chapel weekly. Teachers integrate biblical truth into every subject area. In the final analysis, Southside Christian School is intent on preparing students -- both academically and spiritually -- to be successful in their personal and professional lives.
