The mission of Southside Christian School is to serve as partners with Christian parents in providing an excellent education consistent with biblical truth.
Dear Parents,
I am excited about the wonderful things the Lord will do in the hearts and lives of our faculty, families, and students this year. We are looking forward to the opportunity to make disciples in Jesus’ name. Everything that we do at SCS is intended to help our students conform to the image of Christ.
At SCS we provide a physically and spiritually safe environment that nurtures each student in a caring, yet challenging, way. We desire to see students excel academically, spiritually, physically, socially, and emotionally. The credentialed core of spiritually vibrant master teachers in the Lower School provides excellent academic instruction while teaching students to hear and respond to the voice of God. The Lower School is passionate to nurture growth in students, participate in their spiritual transformation, and equip them to reflect and extend God’s kingdom. SCS is committed to cultivating a biblical worldview within students, enabling them to live effective and productive lives in service to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Academic excellence has a high priority in the Lower School and is an integral component of our mission statement. On our most recent Stanford 10 Achievement Test, Southside Christian Lower School students exceeded the national average at every grade level and in every subject area. In October 2007, the Lower School was awarded the U. S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School Award for reading and math scores that were in the top ten percent of scores in the nation.
At Southside Christian School our partnership with parents is extremely important. As we partner together for the cause of Christian education, we will be “praying for and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.” Colossians 1:9-10.
In Him,
Susan Tucker, Ed.D.
Lower School Principal
