From the Principal

Dr. Wess Stafford, in his book, Too Small To Ignore states, “Children are too important and too intensely loved by God to be left behind or left to chance.”  God has called me to a lifelong commitment of investing in young children’s lives, and there is no greater reward than to be given the opportunity  to make an eternal difference in a child’s life.

As the Early Education Principal at Southside Christian School, I recognize that the development of the whole child is most important as one focuses on all that God intended for each young child to become when they are fully grown.  Each child’s development is an on-going process which involves individual growth over an extended period of time. These areas of development include the spiritual, physical, social, emotional and cognitive domains.

At SCS, we want to prepare our young students to one day become disciples of Jesus Christ whose lives honor and please the Lord evidenced by every kind of good fruit as they grow in the knowledge of God. (Colossians 1:10, Matthew 28:19, John 15:8) Our Christian teachers and assistants model Jesus Christ everyday in the classroom. Many teachable moments throughout the day help children develop an understanding of who God is and why He sent His Son on our behalf. Coupled with developing a spiritual maturity over time, the Early Education program also incorporates into the curriculum the opportunity for students to learn to think critically, to develop a curiosity and passion for learning, and to develop skills for getting along with others.

As parents of young children, your role in growing and nurturing them will be the greatest single variable in their development.  At SCS, we want to partner with you in this exciting process to assure their well being, readiness for learning, brain development and spiritual foundations are daily being established.

May God give you wisdom in raising and educating your child(ren).  Matthew 16: 25-26, “For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul?”

May God richly bless your family as you seek to serve Him,

Mrs. Jo Dillard, M.Ed.

Early Education Principal
