From the Principal

The mission of Southside Christian School is to serve as partners with Christian parents in providing an excellent education consistent with biblical truth.

From the Early Education Principal:

I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer.  We are excited about the upcoming school year and look forward to seeing each of you.

I would like to suggest a few tips to help you as a Christian parent keep your child on track this year and to ensure that they have a successful school experience. Your influence as their parent is very powerful. Consider ways that you can increase your child’s spiritual, cognitive, emotional and social development. As you plan your child’s day and week, start by discussing with your spouse routines for your family. Children thrive in an environment that is full of good routines. One of the most important routines you can follow as a parent of a young child is to get into the habit of tucking your child into bed at a set time.

I encourage you as parents to consider scheduling the following routines in your home:

Consistent wake-up time

Full, nutritious breakfast

Consistent evening meal together

Daily family devotions and Bible story time (after dinner or before bed is a good time)

Consistent bed time

Reviewing concepts, stories and curriculum that your child has learned during the week

Attending church together weekly

Engaging in daily, meaningful conversations with your child

Praying together often

Being consistent with these routines is the optimal word. Children thrive in an environment that is set. This is one reason during the school day we have many schedules that are the same. As Christian parents, God charges us to always be teaching our children. When parents implement a consistent, daily routine in their home they set the tone for a pleasant family environment. I am reminded of God’s command to parents in Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.” NASV We all want our children to be successful. As parents, part of that success can be establishing an environment full of healthy routines within your family.

As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of assistance to you in any way. I am very interested in helping you create a home environment that will help your family be successful in God’s eyes. Let me know how you are doing in creating a home full of consistent routines! May the Lord bless you and keep your family under His wings.

Partnering together in Christ’s love,

Jo Dillard
