Overview

Psalms 139: 13-14 states, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”

We believe that each child is created in the image of God, loved by Him and is a special gift from God. Each  classroom is a place where young, inquiring minds of children 18 months through First grade can be nurtured within a Christ-centered environment.

During a child’s earliest years of life there are many “windows of opportunity” for learning and developing that are unique to his specific age group. God designed a child’s brain to grow more during these first few years than at any other time and patterns are developed in these formative years that will affect the child’s growth and development forever.

The Bible tells us that “Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men” Luke 2:52. Children are developing in the same way that Jesus grew. Therefore, Southside Christian School has designed the Early Education program to meet their developmental needs by offering a stimulating hands-on approach to the learning environment and curriculum. This encourages appropriate development for the child’s emotional stability, social competency, intellectual ability and spiritual awareness and maturity. Christian teachers provide many opportunities for children to explore and discover the world God created for them and gain confidence in their God-given abilities and talents.

Parent Involvement

Parents may volunteer during school hours in the Early Education Office or help their child’s teacher in a variety of ways through our Volunteers in Partnership (VIP) program. Parent/teacher conferences are held each year to review the student’s progress. Special programs such as Explore Lab, Grandparent’s Day, Donuts for Dads, Mommy and Me, K4 Mother’s Day Tea, and K5 Graduation offer other opportunities for SCS parents to be involved in their child’s educational experience.
