Early Education Curriculum

Overview

During a child's earliest years of life there are many "windows of opportunity" for learning and developing that are unique to his specific age group. God designed a child's brain to grow more during these first few years than at any other time and patterns are developed in these formative years that will affect the child's growth and development forever. Our Early Education program is designed to meet each student's unique developmental needs by offering a stimulating hands-on approach to the learning environment and curriculum. This encourages appropriate development for the child's intellectual ability, emotional stability, social competency, and spiritual awareness and maturity.

Pre-Kindergarten

Our EE2 and EE3 curriculums focus on developing our students' social, emotional, cognitive, and language skills. Children will have individual and group play in centers where they will learn valuable social and thinking skills. They will develop spiritually and emotionally with a weekly Bible theme and daily prayer time. Other classroom activities and experiences will relate to the weekly theme (such as a preschool math, art, or science lesson). We will assist your child in developing autonomy by allowing for achievable accomplishments.

Kindergarten

Our K4 and K5 instructional programs provide age appropriate activities for spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, and physical growth. Christian moral and spiritual values are taught in the classroom and are interwoven throughout each day’s activities. Character development is encouraged by teaching first time obedience, proper responses, and correct attitudes. Opportunities are provided for supervised exploration and experimentation that develop cognitive skills. Pro-social techniques such as sharing, cooperation, helping, taking turns, and problem solving are encouraged. The curriculum provides creative art and musical experiences as well as activities to develop both fine and gross motor skills. Core subjects taught include Bible, Language arts, math, science, and social studies. Students will have weekly co-curricular classes of chapel, music, library, and physical education (and Spanish for K5) and they will have the opportunity to participate in our hands-on Explore Lab.

First Grade

Core subjects taught in first grade include Bible, mathematics, English language arts, science and social studies.  Students will also have weekly co-curricular classes in chapel, music, physical education, library, Spanish, and art.

The Bible curriculum focuses on memory verses, biblical knowledge, and life application. Mathematics will be taught through models that build conceptual understanding and require the use of problem solving skills and strategies. English language arts will provide intense, systematic phonics instruction with an emphasis on spelling, vocabulary, and writing. The science curriculum is taught from a biblical perspective and promotes scientific literacy and Christian growth.  Social studies will focus on learning about the United States of America and creating a love for our country.
