Away Games: Directions to all away games can be found on the website. Click on Team Schedules, find your team, then click on the name of the school. Directions are updated from Map Quest, Yahoo Maps and the opposing school's website.
Varsity Football Practice: Practice for varsity football (boys grades 9-12) will begin on Friday, July 30. Players should be in the locker room at 4:30 p.m. to meet with the coaches. Practice will be from 5-9:30 p.m. on the practice fields. Practice on Saturday, July 31, will be from 9-11 a.m. Practice the week of August 2-6 will be each evening from 5-9:30 p.m. If you still need a helmet, see Coach Lockwood from 3:30-4:30 p.m. on July 30. Items needed for practice are as follows: white, black or navy football cleats, tennis shoes, shorts, two t-shirts, helmet and a mouthpiece. If you need a mouthpiece, bring $9 and see Coach Kleckner. No one may tryout or practice without a completed physical dated on or after April 1, 2010, on the proper SCHSL form, and an official birth certificate copy on file in the athletic office.
JV and Seventh Grade Football: Practice for boys grades 7-9 interested in playing football will begin on Monday, August 9. Practice time is 3:45-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Items needed are the same as for varsity. Ninth graders will stay for varsity practice. No one may tryout or practice without a completed physical dated on or after April 1, 2010, on the proper SCHSL form, and an official birth certificate copy on file in the athletic office.
Volleyball Tryouts: Jv and varsity volleyball tryouts (girls grades 7-12) will begin on Monday, August 2 and will be held everyday through Friday from 4-6 p.m. in the Sabre Centre. No one may tryout or practice without a completed physical dated on or after April 1, 2010, on the proper SCHSL form, and an official birth certificate copy on file in the athletic office.
Cross Country Practice: Practice will begin for the Sabre Cross Country team on Monday, August 2. Meet at the picnic shelter at 4 p.m. Practice will last until 5:30 p.m. each day. Bring proper running shoes, a stopwatch, a list of personal goals and lots of enthusiasm. Water will be provided. No one may tryout or practice without a completed physical dated on or after April 1, 2010, on the proper SCHSL form, and an official birth certificate copy on file in the athletic office.
Girls' Golf: Practice for the first ever Lady Sabre golf team will start on Monday, August 9. Practice will be held at Carolina Springs from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Fall Sports Parent Meeting: On Tuesday, August 17, there will be a meeting for parents of students partcipating in fall athletics. The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. in the Sabre Centre. At least one parent of each athlete is urged to attend. Athletes are not required to be present.
Football: The varsity football team will participate in an FCA Jamboree at Furman University on Saturday, August 7. Our opponent will be Travelers Rest High School. Game time is still to be determined. Admission is $5 if tickets are purchased before game day. Tickets will be $6 at the gate. Contact Coach Frank Kleckner at fkleckner@southsidechristian.org or Becky Gambrel in the front office to purchase tickets.
Schedules: JV and varsity football and volleyball schedules have been posted for the 2010 fall season. Varsity basketball schedules have also been posted for the winter season. Schedules for all other fall sports will be posted as soon as they are available.
NCAA Clearinghouse: If you are planning to participate in athletics at the college level, you must register with the NCAA Initial Eligibility Clearinghouse. This should be done during your senior year. Go to ncaaclearinghouse.net or call 319-337-1492 for information.

Eligibility Rules: All student athletes are required by the South Carolina High School League to have the following on file prior to participating in any sports activity including practice: A copy of their official birth certificate (hospital issued birth certificates cannot be accepted), a signed parent consent form and a completed physical. Physicals for sports purposes for the 2010-2011 school year must be on the official form provided by the league office and be dated April 1, 2010 or after. No other form from your doctor's office will be accepted. The parent consent form is also on the physical form. These forms are available from the Athletic Office or from Becky Gambrel in the school front office. The completed form and birth certificate copy may be returned to either one of these offices.
