Instrumental Music

Beginner Band 
6th grade students who want to begin learning a traditional school band instrument may choose this class as an elective. Special emphasis is placed on the discovery of our special talents from God.

Middle School Band
Band is offered as an elective course for 7th and 8th graders to concentrate on the ensemble skills and musicianship of instrumental music. This class will perform in several public concerts throughout the school year. (Prerequisite: Member of the 6th grade band or one year of private instruction)

High School Band 
Band is offered as an elective course for instrumentalists in Grades 9 through 12 who want to increase their abilities in advanced music. Skills learned will be demonstrated in several performances throughout the school year, including the annual Spring Contest Trip. (Prerequisite: Member of the Middle School Band or one year of private instruction)

Handbells 
An elective course is offered for students in Grades 9 through 12 who wish to study the fundamentals of music making through the unique form of ringing pitched bells. This group will perform throughout the school year in a variety of concerts in the community. When possible, an advanced class is also offered.

Music Honors 
An independent study class is offered for the serious music students to study music theory and history. Requirements include the completion of a theory text, private lessons, concert attendance, and quarterly research projects. (Prerequisite: Junior or senior enrolled in one of the major performing ensembles)

Pep Band 
A voluntary instrumental group that plays for home football games is offered to students in Grades 7 through 12. Members must meet a minimum playing requirement and be committed to performances. Parents and alumni are also invited to join in. This ensemble will explore forms of music not played regularly in the classroom. Auditions will be determined by interest.
