2012 Distinguished Alumni
Marsha Nagelkirk '78
The 2012 Distinguished Alumni is Marsha Nagelkirk. Marsha is a member of the class of 1978.
While at SCS, Marsha served as freshman class vice president, sophomore class student council representative, and student council treasurer. She was a cheerleader for several years, serving as captain her senior year. She participated in school plays, sang in the choir, was a member of homecoming court, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Along with other honors, she received the Christian Leadership Award, the highest honor presented to a graduating senior.
Marsha received a B.S. in education and began her career as a teacher at SCS. She later transitioned to healthcare administration and is currently employed by Greenville Hospital System. Marsha has served several terms on the SCS Board of Directors and was a member during the school's transition to independence. During her tenure, the board implemented a scholarship granting full tuition to one student each year. This scholarship is funded entirely by donations from current and former board members. She has faithfully supported our school in every way asked of her since her time as a student.
In recognition of her extraordinary devotion to SCS, Marsha is the first repeat recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award.
Marsha and her husband Jerry have two children, Jared and Kaylyn, who are also graduates of Southside Christian School. Marsha enjoys cycling and has participated in several long-distance charity events on behalf of Miracle Hill Ministries.
