2017 Distinguished Alumni
Daniel Thompson ’01
The 2017 recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award is Daniel Thompson. Daniel is a member of the class of 2001.
While at SCS, Daniel was a member of the National Honor Society, the Academic Quiz Team, and the Bible Quiz Team. He participated in basketball, baseball, golf (where he once had a hole-in-one), cross country, and tennis. Daniel was senior class representative and was class chaplain. He was a finalist for the Christian Leadership Award and was selected to attend SC Boys State. His senior year, he received the award for excellence in Bible.
Daniel earned a B.A. in history from the University of South Carolina and a M.A. in secondary education for the University of Phoenix. He served as a Christian school teacher for ten years and was a 2014 SCISA Teacher of the Year finalist. Daniel also coached basketball for twelve years. He is currently the Upper School principal at Shannon Forest Christian School.
Daniel and his wife Sarah ’03 enjoy living in downtown Greenville with their two foster sons. He is an avid fan of the New York Yankees and was screening director of the Reedy Reels Film Festival for 2015-2016.
