REQUIREMENTS

The curriculum at SCS is college preparatory, with an Honors Diploma program to encourage and challenge the above average student.  To graduate, a student must complete 27 credits including:  4 English, 4 Math, 3 Science, 3 Social Studies, 4 Bible, 1 Computer, 1 PE & Health, 2 Foreign Language, 1 Fine Arts, and 4 Electives.  An Honors Diploma requires a 3.8 GPR, one additional credit in Science, and two of the 27 credits must be in honors or AP courses.

GRADING SYSTEM & CLASS RANK

Grades are given on the following scale:  A=93-100, B=85-92, C=77-84, D=70-76, F=69 and below.

 

AP courses earn an additional quality point.  Honors courses earn an additional .5 quality point.  All courses, excluding teaching aide positions, are used in computing GPR and class rank.

 

Grade Point Ratio (GPR) is computed according to the South Carolina Uniform Grading Scale.

Middle School - Grades 7 - 8

Recognizing the uniqueness of the middle school years, we seek to involve middle school students in challenging, interesting learning activities which will help them focus their direction academically and spiritually. The core curriculum includes Bible, English, history, math, science, physical education and health. A complete fine arts program is also available. Students in grades seven and eight may try out for junior varsity and varsity teams in soccer, volleyball, tennis, swimming, golf, basketball, cheerleading, baseball, softball, track, and cross country. Participation in Bible quiz and academic quiz teams is encouraged on a volunteer basis. High school courses may be taken for credit by qualifying 8th grade students.
